So i took the old t-stat out and tried to put the new one in. heres my question, do i need any lube or glue to install the t-stat or should it just screw right on in the housing ?

Under what conditions are you overheatimg? Check the easiest items first...coolant level, t-stat, radiator cap (it needs to hold pressure for the system to function correctly), back flush system, clean exterior of radiator fins, retarded ignition timing. CHANGE THE OIL!!!! Break in periods for a engine are very important! If the head was torqued properly before installation, they shouldn't need to be re-torqued.
