Its like a new car
Whaddup ya'll. So I don't post on here too often but wanted to let it be known that I do appreciate this forum. I finally got around to putting my engine back in the Tercel. I took it out in 2007, rebuilt it in the first half of 2008 and then got the hairbrained idea to see how long I could stand ...

So the engine is going back in the car. No more silly ideas of an EV... That plan turned out to be way to expensive.
And more than a little to complex for the little beast.

Re: Feeler: rebuilt 3A possibly for sale...
Yeah I'm aware of the costs involved in the EV conversion. 6K-10K seems rather high by my findings though. Some of the biggest costs after sourcing the motor and controlling hardware seems to be paying someone to machine the necessary parts. This would be less of a problem in my case as I have ...

Re: Feeler: rebuilt 3A possibly for sale...
Heh. So after looking at the cost of parts involved to convert to EV vs. the cost to put my engine back in there... It is going to remain a gas car for a while. EV conversion parts can get pricey really quickly.

Feeler: rebuilt 3A possibly for sale...
So here is situation, I rebuilt the engine for my Tercel last semester and due to budget constraints I never put it in. I bored it over 0.020, replaced the pistons, rings, piston pins, rod bearings, crank journal bearings, valves, and valve guides. Just about the only thing not replace dwere the ...

Re: CT9A's 3A-C rebuild thread of questions
Everyone beat me to anything I might have added. All very sound advice, I just rebuilt mine last spring and only had to spend around 180$ for gaskets, pistons, valves and valve guides, and all the bearings on the crank. I will try to find the number for the place I got my parts from, it was a local ...

Looks nice. I wish these things were worth that much... Did the auto's come with push-button 4WD selector? I have never seen an auto with 4WD so I'm curious.

Since we are on the topic of buzzers... Where is that thing in the T4WD? I have been meaning to locate mine and terminate it with extreme prejudice. Anyone know? Thanks in advance...

Re: Rear springs - a solution
@ 86AL25; So you are using this air system in conjunction with the 82 Vanagon springs? Any idea what the spring rates are on those? I have long suspected my rear springs are sagged and have been trying to figure out what else might work that is a tad stiffer. Thanks for the awesome write up by the ...

Re: headlight conversion ... worth it?
Better find out how much current these pull. You may need to upgrade the wires first.
I never upgraded the wires. The sealed beam bulbs are Halogen too and run at the same wattage and amperage as the H4 bulbs. So really the only thing to consider is the legality of the swap and how much one cares ...

Re: headlight conversion ... worth it?
I put a set of them in mine the first time I had to change bulbs. It was the only time I ever had to take the grille apart, for that reason alone I would do it. I haven't had to replace the bulbs yet but when I do it can be done anywhere and without any tools. Oh and the light is better too.

Hate to break it to you, JDM Cav is the Chevy one... just imported and sold as a Toyota. Think Geo Prism/Toyota Corolla. Its a wonder they don't sell so well over there...

Re: Help! - Engine Bearing Question
when you remove the oil pan, you'll notice numbers stamped on the bottom of the block on the flywheel side of the engine, those are the numbers they were asking for at za dealer.
yeah, there will be two sets of numbers. One set on each side of the block. Its kinda nice IF you can read both sets ...
