Anybody have a lead on a good 3A engine for sale?

Yeah, its a great car sans the blown engine. Its made a bunch of trips from Missoula to Olympia WA, be to San Fransisco and back not to mention commutes from Olympia Portland. I'm still considering buying a crate motor and swapping the engine out. Its still got a lot left her.

I have a transmission out of a 1984 Tercel SR5. 6 speed, was in the car when we bought it. Swapped it out because its stuck in 3rd gear. I'm not a transmission expert so I don't think I would ever tear it apart to see whats actually wrong with it. Not sure whats it worth. It did drive in 3rd gear ...

Brake pads....check, new rotors....check, shutter...gone. Thanks for the tips as always.

84 Tercel, when braking at higher speeds, say 35 mph and higher, I get a brake shutter that you can feel in the peddle and through the steering wheel. The car still brakes very well and stops straight. Could this be brake pads, rotors or something else?

Done, success. Shifts like butter. Not very hard at all. Had the Old tranny out and the new one in in about three hours. Too bad I'm giving this one my daughter, I would like to keep it for my daily driver.

Okay, here is a basic question,
What is a good brand and weight of gearbox oil? Is there one of high mileage like they have for engines or just a good brand 90 weight?
Also, what is the capacity of the the trans, and differentials?

Anyone up for helping a newbie swap an 84 trans in the Olympia area? Have access to a lift which makes it nice.

After discussing this project with the local Toyota guy, he was afraid that once we tore into it, we may encounter other things that may not match to the difference in model years. Gonna stick with the 84, straight rust free body, everything electrical works, no tears or stains in the upholstery, door and window seals all good. Got the window cracks to work like new again.
