Help needed in Missoula

Post by romarvi »

Looking for Tercel 4wd knowledgable person in Missoula. My daughter moved to Missoula MT for work along with her 84 tercel. It recently started to overheat and by the description of the problem it could be as simple as needing a new thermostat. Since we live in Olympia WA its hard for me to get over there to help her fix it. So..I was hoping theres someone on this forum in the Missoula area that might be willing to lend a hand at getting a new thermostat installed. I bought and shipped the parts to her so everything as far as parts are there.

Larry Mcgrath is out of Montana and is a great forum member. He has helped me out greatly. PM him to see if he can help out or direct you to a good side mechanic that could save you a few bucks. Good luck.

Peace

warn her to keep that temp down at all cost. Use the heater fan on full if necessary. NEVER let the temp gauge go to the upper third of the gauge. If the engine overheats it will almost certainly need a new head gasket. a repair shop would charge an outlandish amount to replace it and likely make a mess of it.

Larry McGrath would be a good contact, excellent person to have helping you. If it is too late and a head gasket is needed, he can do it fairly and expertly. Make sure who ever does a head gasket job, if it is necessary, that they follows the procedure I have outlined in the Repair Guides section.

Good luck.
