Re: Loud Grinding from tranny?driveshaft?

Damn, the noise only occurs in bumpy conditions so I cannot check where its coming from. Did change tranny fluid today to check for metal and there was some but not too much, the fluid was blackish at rear when draining and the fluid at the front was silver(eeeks). Anyway I will probably take it to ...

Splatterdog

Yeah, that bearing was barely bolted on when I checked it. I'll have to crawl under tomorrow and check again for any bent shielding and listen to the noise. Thanks Petros I forgot that dust shield, I think its still there...

Loud Grinding from tranny?driveshaft?

Hey all

I was out driving up a pretty rough logging road when suddenly I hit a rock and the car jumped into 4x4. It had no problems going back into 2wd but after that bump a very load grinding sound started. I crawled under the car and noticed that some bolts holding the drive shaft up were loose ...

Looking for a rear stabalizer link 86 T4W

Greetings

Just realized that I do not have a rear stabilizer link on my car. The Rear Stabilizer bar just hangs loose. As seen on page RA-51 of the FSM I am missing the link stabilizer and it makes for a pretty bouncy ride.

Does anyone have an extra one sitting around? or ...

Re: Main seal question.

Thanks for the info guys, When I started stripping down the motor I noticed the Air filter was soaked with oil, but the PCV valve apeared to be working, I put a new one on anyway. I couldn't seem to get the Cam bolt loose even with a breaker bar so I just re-torqued all the visible bolts (most were ...

Main seal question.

Hi all...

Well it appears that my front and rear main seals may have blown. I don't know really how or why, but my poor Tercel is bleeding oil from behind the timing belt and it looks like so much oil has sprayed around the motor that it is coming through the passenger firewall carpet. The car ...

Missing bolts on Bell Housing

Hi,

I recently took my T4 to get a clutch put in, and when it came home it was missing 2 bolts from the Bell Housing and the bolt next to the starter was not even threaded in. I tightened the one by the starter (finger tight +about 1 turn) but I didn't have a torque wrench.

I had driven for 2 ...

Hi recently my beloved Tercel, "the Yam" pooched a clutch while on a backwoods sabatical. I was driving on old decomissioned logging roads when I started losing gears one after another, soon trying to grind away in reverse, in the ...

Re: Buying A 4wd Tercel

Hey Reeber

Welcome! From past experience I would pay close attention to the rust situation in the rear wheel well area as I have had this rusts out QUICK.

Look at the CV Boots (easy to change axle's but they are another cost)
Transmission is a little weak so make sure you test drive it good ...

Re: British Columbia

Hey All

Good to see at least some BC'ers here. I'm in Powell River, BC which is great for heading up all the decomissioned logging roads but costs $100 to leave town and come back! (We're on the mainland but ya have to take 2 ferry's to get to our town.) Was on Vancouver Island and took my first ...

Bought myself a YAM

Hi all

Just wanted to say that I have been reading about everyone's experiences for a while now and find all your solutions helpful (especially the ones that don't work out). Well, I just picked up an 87 wagon 4X4 and just had to ask if there was anyone around the Vancouver BC, or Victoria BC area ...
