Bought myself a YAM

Post by funguseater »

Hi all

Just wanted to say that I have been reading about everyone's experiences for a while now and find all your solutions helpful (especially the ones that don't work out). Well, I just picked up an 87 wagon 4X4 and just had to ask if there was anyone around the Vancouver BC, or Victoria BC area that had an 87 and sold it in the last year or two. Someone went to great lengths using a lot of the guides and tips I have seen here to help this baby out. It has been lifted by about 2" with extensions for the shocks welded to the frame. The motor seems like it has been tuned remarkably well, I have had 3 Terc's in the past and thought I had them running well but this beast blows them away. I am very interested in finding out what the previous owner did (not the owner I got it off, she didn't have it long).

The car has one big distinguishing feature..... It is painted YAM color. Some person spent a great deal of time on with this car and I would like find out what all was done (and thank them). For now I must continue to clean up the new rust, it was all done before with tar apparently and this seems to have slowed down Mr. Rust considerably. I also have to figure out why it hesitates and stalls sometimes while accelerating in 1st from Idle. So its back to the guides and checkin Vac lines and such for me. Talk to you all later...

Welcome to the Club!
B.C and no "u" in "color?"
Is the YAM color that of the tuber's flesh or...?

Man, at what point does this place get changed to Tercel4WD.ca?? There're a lot of fellow Canucks here.

That is because we need the 4wd action the terkel provides :). Why it just snowed again up here. Boo winter!

So it is Yam coloured, not pumpkin? 'cause someone in Banff has one of those. What next, eggplant? Oh wait isn't there a purple tercel on here too?

You should be able to get into some good mushroom picking areas with that thing! Do you know a Michelle Meier or a Micheal Garfat? They live on the Island and love the money's and buds too :)

That would be Lollypop, down in Pascagoula MS, although his is a repaint. Wonder what happened to him - he has not visited for a year.

"Canuck" is OK? I thought that was a pejorative...or is it one of those things like (since I'm of Irish descent) "I can call another Irishman a Mick but you can't, being German."
Is it only a pejorative when a USA-type American calls a Canada-type American that?

P.S. I'm not a hockey fan, but I always thought the Vancouver team had a different real name and "The Canucks" was a derogatory term.
And Yes - I know the STL Blues finally made the playoffs - and bombed in 4...
