Looking for some electrical connectors

Post by lannvouivre »

List of what I know this far is missing. I wish for them to have pigtails so I can splice them in.

Coolant temperature sensor connector (harness-side)
Car-side stereo harness

More to come, I will post additional comments as I fine missing connectors.
But...did you try hitting it with a hammer?

Amazon/ebay has the car stereo harness but it may be the 87 up one (smaller pins) I can find you the part number tomorrow.

As long as the pinouts match, it's no concern. We just need a proper setup to splice in.

This is what you want, if you price search around you might find it cheaper.

I still need each of the coolant sender connectors. That's the fat round green one to the top of the thermostat housing, and the smaller rectangular "natural" (off-white) one on the head by the cam sprocket. Please help me out here!

if you are installing a weber you will not need the one at the coolant outlet, it is for the emissions control ECM. The one next to the cam sprocket at the front of the head is for the temperature gauge on the dash.

Ah. I still need one or a connector that will fit that one, then. I don't want it to look all hackjob!

the actual wire connector within the plug is a standard bayonet type contact housed in a plastic "plug" housing. I have used standard connectors if I did not have the Toyota connector, it works fine, just clearly not stock looking. if you shop in most auto parts stores you can find connectors with colored plastic covers on them, use one of those and no one except a Tercelernaught will know it is not "factory". Your engine bay is clearly not "factory" anyway.

Otherwise you will have to find similar connectors in a wrecking yard (all models from the same model year have similiar looking connectors), and splice the line is the only way to get the stock "look". I doubt anyone is still making the same type of connector assemblies 30 years after this car went out of production.

Oh, good. None of the local yards will have what exactly I need ('98 and newer only), but that'll make it easier to find a replacement.
