If you have vacuum leaks at the carb mounting area it could be a couple possiblities. There are a lot of vacuum ports on the base area of the carb so make sure all those ports are blocked off or connected properly. Also, since you have taken the carb off did you use new gaskets when remounting the carb? An old gasket can become dried out or damaged when pulling the carb off and not seal properly anymore. Do not use gasket sealer when remounting carb it can cause the gasket to slip or soften and get cut when tightening. They work better dry installed.

You will need to also make sure that you have tightened down the carb evenly, if you have uneven torque on the mount nuts you can cause the base to not seal evenly when mounted, causeing a leak.

If I remember correctly you posted that you had to make a spacer for under the carb...what did you end up using to construct that? If the material is too sensitive to heat or cold or warped it could be causing a leak between its mating surfaces. You did use 3 new gaskets when mounting the carb correct? There is also a metal heat shield that usually goes right onder the carb so if that is missing it really shouldn't cause an issue with sealing as long as the gaskets are in good shape.

One more thought is that the carb looks pretty worn and could have a potential internal vacuum leak that can be very hard to diagnose. If this is the case and all other leaks are known to be plugged then you may be in the market for a carb or a carb kit. Not likely that it wil need a carb but still possible.

Good luck on this project, you seem to love this car very much and are making slow but steady process. Keep up the work it will pay off.

Peace
