Tilt steering wheel plastic trim NEEDED

Post by larry mcgrath »

While I was in Wash at Petros I picked up a tilt steering wheel but i still need the 2 pieces of plastic trim -one the lowerpiece under the colum that the tilt lever fits into - the other piece of trim is the large piece that goes under the colum that also covers the radio speaker . color doesent matter. I need these 2 pieces to make this swap to look factory. pm me if you have these. Thanks Larry.

Tilt steering wasn't offered until 1985, so it would have to be '85+ and I believe it was an SR5 only option.

In '86, tilt was standard for all wagons, whether 2WD or 4WD and optional on DLX sedans.

David,

I have never seen that, of course most of the T4wd I see are SR5, I assumed all Tercels after '85 had it. I thought it was another one of those silly federal requirements to make the wheel adjustable. somehow they think being able to move the steering wheel up and down an inch improved safety. I like my non-adjustable one in my '84, lighter and simple. It is just the right height for me, and I am not that tall. the steering wheel perfectsly frames the instrument cluster. I had once considered changing all over when they had one at the local picknpull, but I could not think of a single reason to do it, at least for me.

Could be a Canada market thing.
My previous turtle was an '86 DLX and had the standard column, my current 86 SR5 has tilt.
