my fave sports teams are always the biggest losers--i don't know if anyone remembers the hockey team, the hartford whalers? boy, i loved their logo. don't think they won anything before becoming whatever team they are now but who cares? i carved their old logo on a jack-o-lantern a few years ago and received some rave reviews so i think there are others with a soft spot for them.

7 games in 1982 v. the Brewers.
Oddly, it took 6 games in 1944 against the lowly STL Browns (we were hampered by so many players in the War; the Brownies were a 4-F team - always).
Of course, we also lost in 7 games in 1987 v. the Twins.

Sadly, the weather has not cooperated here, so the 6th game is now Thursday, to be followed by our dramatic 7th game win on Friday.
I note you've already visited since my previous post and did not reply; no doubt you were dazzled by the sheer number of wins of the World Series posted and had to step away from the keyboard.
Note that I listed but 8 of the ten (10) W.S. WINS and did not list the other two W.S. SMASHES - and but one of the 7 W.S. losses.

I kept thinking during the ninth, then during the tenth, then during the eleventh - "Don't let this be a repeat of 'Casey at the Bat'" I know I was not alone as I sat at the TV screen with tears streaming down my cheeks; we saw something that was so much more real than Malamud's hero Roy Hobbs' effort.
It may be corny, but afterwards, trying to comprehend what we just saw, I kept thinking of Henry V's speech before Agincourt: This day is call'd the feast of Crispian.
