Venison all Summer Long....

Post by emmahumpfritter »

Yesterday I was driving back from Michigan when the car in front of me nailed a deer. I stopped to help, the sheriff showed up soon after and to make a long story short, he wrote me out a tag to take the deer home. It was still warm (dead maybe 15 minutes) I love venison and wild food in general, so I loaded it up in the pass seat (my drums were in the back) Emma (my dog) was nervous (am I next?) :) Took me until after midnight to process the meat, but now my freezer is full. Out of season venison is a luxury in my book.

Watch out for ticks in your car...I've hauled a few deer in mine. I usually end up getting a tick. I had 2 in one week after one deer.

Otherwise that's pretty awesome.

Looked at the pic first and my first thought was- On no! it went thru your windshield and ended up on the seat.

Glad it didn't go down like that. Enjoy the meat!

I'll vacuum it out just to be safe, though so many ticks get on me just from tramping around the woods (and a little dog sleeping at the foot of my bed) it might be a moot point.

I have heard different ticks live on deer, the nasty ones you don't want digging into you.

Thanks for the heads up eh.
