So I was driving to do some shopping when I noticed steam coming out under the hood, and temp-o-meter was really high. I quikly stopped and popped the hood and sure enough water was boiling away happily. My fist tought was that as I have the block heater plugged up all day when im at work, it must have evaporated water out of the cooling system. I added water, let it cool a bit and headed back home. Well, it heated up again. Luckily I was close to home and managed to limp the rest of the way by pulling over and letting it cool from time to time.
as I got back home I quickly found out the problem:

The rubber separating the two pulley halves failed.
Seeing as this is not a damping type pulley, I decided to make a quick and dirty fix with electric glue:

Tricky part was to get the two halves alinged so that the crack where the rubber was in would be evenly big all around. I used 4mm bolts. Also cheked it in a lathe to see that it was centered, which it was (almost) bang on. Its brobaly not in perfect balance any more, but as it is not terribly big or heavy and the weight is quite close to the cenerline of the crankshaft im hoping it wont matter too much.
I also took a picture of my radiator. Its looks quite bad, but amaizingly enough it doesent leak, and my tercel has never overheated (apart from the broken pulley) even after I put in the turbo. Altough that may change during summer when I will not be using the heater...
