Ahh, Doug Adams, 42 truly is the meaning of life. Maybe I'll be Ford Prefect or Zaphod Beeblebrox for a screen name. B)

Arthur Dent, I do believe. Marvin was the robot's name, they made a song about him (seriously) called "Marvin I love you." I'll see if I can post it. If you went as Deep Thought someone would probably *cough* take it the wrong way. To make a confession though, I've only read "Dirk Gently's Hostilic Detective Agency," and I'm basing everything off of the TV series. The good thing about a normal email or screen name is you don't get the "look" when you tell someone what it is. "arb.... uhhhh, could you spell that?"

So long and thanks for all the fish.

If you want to compete in the geek competition, you should know that "Adelard of Bath" was a famous mathematician from (of course) Bath, England, during the 12th century.
"famous" is subjective....hee hee actually the TRUE story here is that a friend in high school had to do a report for math class (strange but true) and discovered this fellow, and he told me, "You should change your name to Adelard of Bath" and it stuck....somehow....cuz at the time the BBS scene in the ole hometown was in full bloom (pre internet) and you had to have screen names...
and I would change mine every week.
And I jsut got back into contact with a good friend from high school and he said he thought it was cool that I still used that name....heh

and no-one else uses it.
almost, there are a couple "adelard"s that aren't me.

Not to be confused with a certain "Pierre" or "Peter Abelard" who was a philospher during the same age, or the city of "Adelaide" in Australia.

I raced motocross for years, back in the day. When my kids were younger, they started BMX racing and coaxed me into it.(didn't have to try too hard) After the races I was always the dirtiest one because I stayed on the ground more than on 2 wheels. So they dubbed me the Dirtmagnet.

[you should know that "Adelard of Bath" was a famous mathematician from (of course) Bath, England, during the 12th century.]

And here I thought he was a character in the Canterbury Tales by Chaucer.

[I gotta get Yakima 1A Raingutter towers for the roof.....anybody have a spare set around ?] I might, if it ever stops raining I can cheack in the shed, my wife would love for me to get rid of something. Thanks, Dave ! I'm about 30miles west of Nashville TN. I gather that you're in "sunny' southern CA ?? If you are, I know y'all have had a tough time lately. If you find 'em, let me know what the damage would be to my wallet ! I think there are extra bars layin' around my basement somewhere, but I might like to snag those too....I worked in a bicycle shop for 4 yrs...got lots of bike stuff layin' around B)
