Question about EGR...

Post by T-Bone »

I was wondering if I remove my EGR will it cause any problems with the way my tercel will run? Also if I can remove it whats the best way to do it? I was wondering this because it is clogging up again and I already cleaned it once. Please help.

just a newb thought...if you dont have to worry about DEQ then try unplugging it and cap the line....then it wont open during driving....if its clogged open then you NEED to clean that out first...but if you just dont let it open..and it runs fine without it, then who cares right?...

toyota made it so if you bypass the valve, the engine will run like crap.

by bypass, i mean remove the vacume line on top of it.

however, if you got a penny, and put it in between the intake manifold and the EGR, the engine will run as if it was working normally.

a penny and some hi-temp silicone would probably work best.

After I cleaned my EGR and then put in a new O2...the car wasn't driveable. Recently hooked it back up...drove just fine...but notice soot in the tailpipe.

I can plug the line to the EGR and the car runs good. Was getting 33-34 mpg this summer with the Condensator....no EGR. California model.
