Re: Supercharged Tercel
I misspoke earlier, it was his rally car that got rolled. I got to ride in the unit pictured here and it moved right along. He likely still has the car, but can’t say for sure.

Re: bad HIC valve
David,
I think a few of us have completely disabled the HAI flapper without issue. I don’t notice much/any difference and had no problems to -10 F with starting or driving.

Re: Backup...license plate...dome light issues....
Slice, repair, tape is how my son and I repaired roughy 4 wires (of maybe a dozen) or so on his wife’s Dodge Journey. I’m getting ready to check mine, as I haven’t had back up lights for a while, but just assumed I had a wiring issue from swapping the transmission.

Hey Familyguy78,
Shipping glass is big PITA, but Luke might be up for it. I’ve got a driver’s side window, but I would expect $75 to “box” and about the same or more to ship. Timothy Thomas is parting some Tercels out in Spokane, WA. You might try him on FB.

I’d start calling the “older” junkyards with older inventory. I found mine in a mid 80s Chevrolet Nova.

Re: New 88 tercel wagon bigger tires
Sounds good,
I think the 27” tires would daily fine with the 4.1:1 gearing, buy off-roading may be trickier in the slow crawls/climbs. If I didn’t off-road a few times a year, I would step up to the 27”s.

terceldude,
This isn’t Facebook. If the cats aren’t playing on/in a Tercel, please refrain from sharing here. I hope you had a great holiday season.

Thanks Nordical,
No, this part of southern Missouri is less mud and more solid bottom water holes. The only person I heard about that got stuck was a fellow pulling one of those “tear drop” trailers. He apparently got stuck trying to turn around.

OWT, Yes, he imported from Japan, but it was a mess. Wrong/damaged engine first time, months later to get the correct engine. I need to email him, it’s going on a year i believe since I last reached out. I assume your car isn’t sporting the turbo? Curious where you got your HP/torque numbers, they s...

Re: Proud new owner of a used '97 Tercel DIESEL!
Welcome to the site, This forum is predominantly for the 2nd gen Tercels, particularly the 4WD wagons. But we’re a reasonably diverse group and your car looks great. I can’t believe how clean the engine bay is. The diesel engine (1n OR 1n-t) has been discussed as the nearest fit to our 2nd gen Terce...

Re: New 88 tercel wagon bigger tires
dak, It really depends on your expected use as well as “fit”. I’ve been running and really like 195/75 R14 (25” dia). The 27” tires will fit with some rub on turns and cut down on articulation (very little on our unibody cars anyhow). The power suck may be an issue for daily driving, as a 27” tire w...

Fun weekend!
Went to Springfield, MO this weekend for a Saturday group drive. They did a great job, about thirty rigs in all and we had a great drive with plenty of mud and water. Diarmait brought his Dodge, ours were comfortably the oldest rigs there. 600+ miles and above average January temps thankfully.
