Rock Auto has the Trakmotive half shafts for $43/each plus shipping and they typically work great. I always recommend swapping the c-clips from the OEM half shafts to the new ones, because they are shaped a little different and install better.

mungus,
If you’re on the FB page (unrelated, but very similar), look up Timothy Thomas. He is in Idaho and parting out several Tercels. I believe he put quite a few items on ebay (more for inventory than anything).

Good luck with your daily driver. I too use mine daily and actually should have two drivers shortly, as there is always some type of trouble on the horizon. My brother just moved out to Elkhorn, I’ll try to drive up sometime.

Buzzard,
I would guess there is some wiring askew or possibly a bad alternator, but I would check wiring.

I understand. Mine is a little easier to get to now, I installed a tee so I could pull a line for an oil pressure gauge as well and just moved the op sensor out.

Hey All, If you’re on FB, I’m certain the seller is Timothy Thomas. He uses ebay to sell AND catalog what he has. He’s stripping and projecting a few cars currently. If you see something you want and feel it’s priced a little high, message Timothy. He’s a nice fella and may be able to do better on p...

Ace,
Pretty easy access and while the socket is ideal, I’ve always been able to get a wrench or pliers on the sending unit and remove it pretty easily.

David has it right. Air is sucked in passed a reed valve in certain conditions to help pollutants burn in the catalytic converter.

Re: It starts but doesn't idle or stay running
ME, There is a small screen filter on the inlet pipe into the carb (in the carb), unless a PO has been in and removed it. The float should be checked as well, it might not be letting fuel in. There is a “sight glass” on the bowl that can be observed, but with limited space and 40 years of dust,etc.,...

You might try Timothy Thomas on the Tercel FB page, he’s parting Tercels in Idaho. My parts car was A/C, but I have no idea what shape the compressor may be in. I’m sure the lines were disconnected years ago.

ME,
If the battery was disconnected and now won’t power the dome light, you likely have a poor connection somewhere, possibly on the battery post.
There is a fuel cut-off solenoid that I believe is a safety devise. No power, no fuel movement in the carb?
