Thanks a bunch, sounds great!! I’m curious about low end torque and how it does off-roading?

Re: Larry's tercel gets a 20v Black Top
Great to hear! My wife and I have always talked about visiting Big Sky country, maybe next spring we’ll make it happen.

Adkterc,
We would love as much info as you care to share on your swap. I’m sure many of us here have talked about it, but this is the first I’ve heard where somebody got it done. Pics, details, whatever you have to share please.

Re: Tercel differential rebuild questions
I’ve not been into one of these differentials. However, my son and I worked on his 76’ Maverick rear diff which (unlike the Tercel) requires removing the pinion nut to remove/renew the oil seal. We marked the nut before removing it, reused the “crush” washer and torqued back to spec, 125 ft-lbs as I...

rocksy,
Based on your description of symptoms, I wonder about fuel delivery to the carb. You might try gravity flow directly to the carb or letting the fuel pump pull from an auxiliary tank.

Re: Complete rear axle replacement?
Taos, Unless I was absolutely certain, I would check it, it’s too easy to do not to. It sounds like you have one wheel on and the other off? I would support the rear end so the tire was on the ground and NOT spinning. I would then use chalk or a piece of tape to mark the differential input shaft and...

Esaus,
I used 1st gen Nissan Pathfinder springs in the rear and the Moog 81043 on stock front struts. It rides more like a truck which doesn’t bother me, but might some.

Re: Lift kit???
Esaus,
I’ve got 1.5”-2” lift in the front with really no issues. The ball joints and half-shafts get a little more work, but It’s not been a problem. 80k miles on the presumed original passenger half-shaft and 60k miles on the replaced driver’s side half shaft.

Re: 4wd ->94 coupe
94, Likely a HUGE project that would require serious build skills and $$$. Gen2 have longitudinal engines, I’m sure yours is transverse. No “tunnel” for rear drive shaft IF you found a way to get your motor longitudinal with the transmission. Nobody knows for sure, but the general consensus/guess is...

I traded emails with CRT about 1.5 yrs ago. The project was still buried in his barn I believe.
