Oh for sure, I'm willing to haggle a bit :) I aimed to start around the same price I've seen for similar wagons in my area with more or less the same amount of issues.

For Sale: "The Burrito" 1986 SR5 4wd Manual White Rascal $2200 o.b.o.

Hello everyone -

I am selling my '86 Tercel wagon and it's a bittersweet goodbye. But we recently scored a '98 4Runner, so this one has to go.

I've been lurking on this forum for years and I'm continually impressed with your friendliness, sincerity, and wisdom. I'm so glad y'all exist!

Hope it ...

Re: '83 SR5 wagon parts car - at Portland,OR Pick-n-Pull

I pulled some parts from this car today!

It has an altimeter/inclinometer, which some jerk had pried into but left half-detached (got confused??). The interior was in almost as good condition as mine, and exterior had an astonishing lack of rust or visible damage...really crazy that it was left ...

Re: Wanted/ISO ideas: A few hard to find parts for '86 SR5

Alright! Thanks so much, everyone, for piping in. It's such a relief to come here and be able to understand things in simple terms.

I had a hunch the o-rings/seals weren't that difficult to find, which still leaves me wondering why my mechanic is grumbling...but I do like this shop because they ...

someone else posted about the water pump bypass tube o-ring recently. you don't need to go to toyota for this, any generic o-rings that fit will work. here is the thread.

Thanks dlb! I actually read that thread already and got some ...

Wanted/ISO ideas: A few hard to find parts for '86 SR5

Hey there. My poor little dude is in the shop until I can find (or help my mechanic find) these parts:

- Harmonic balancer (rubber has come apart and is making a crazy rattle)
- Differential oil seal (FRONT, not sure where exactly)
- Water pump O-ring (persistent coolant leak)

Any ideas? My ...

Re: harmonic balancer

Better late than never, I'm jumping into this conversation! I'm so glad you guys are here.

There's a crazy rattle coming from underneath the engine of my '86 SR5, and lo - I've just heard from my mechanic that the rubber is coming apart on my harmonic balancer. She's grumbling that they are very ...

Re: Should I replace the battery terminal bolts or the start

if you don't want to replace just the solenoid, you could certainly replace the entire starter. they're cheap and common enough. i would find a good used one at a wrecker. they are the same for all tercels from '83-'86 regardless of 2wd, 4wd, or hatchback, and they're really easy to remove/install ...

Re: Should I replace the battery terminal bolts or the start

Ha, no worries! That wasn't intended as a rib on your comment particularly; the dude in the video (and others I have watched) seem to use "terminal" and "post" and "clamp" interchangeably and confusingly.

It's 40 degrees and rainy here, so no worries about frozen batteries...thus far 8)

So you ...

Re: Should I replace the battery terminal bolts or the start

Also, yes, I know that it might be as simple as replacing the terminals. Why is it that the POSTS are also referred to as "terminals"? Are the posts posts, or terminals? Are the clamps also terminals?

Should I replace the battery terminal bolts or the starter?

Hi there,

I have a 1986 Terc wagon, live in Portland Oregon, and it's given me a lot of trouble starting this winter. Figure I'd get some input here as to what could be the issue.

I've got the classic Click + No Start. Battery is seemingly fine; all the lights and electrical work inside the car ...
