I have all the parts except the spacers. I can't put them on til I get them. I want to get this on the road asap before the snow hits.
That being said, I still have to replace the alternator, radiator, and I just discovered, shocks and the rear stabilizer is hanging off on the driver's side. So ...
I am in the process of converting my brakes over to the MR2 Powerbooster, rotors and calipers. I know I need to get spacers made to get the rotors correctly positioned.
But I just today completely redid the rear brakes. Can I use a cutting torch, and cut the spacer out of the old brake drums ...
I may have to take you up on the door handle, there are no Tercels in the local yards. I did come across the MR2, an old Cressida and an older Geo Prism. I am going tomorrow for the seats and to see what plastic rods connector pieces I can scavenge. I have zero body work experience and consider ...
Ok. we got the drivers door open. I have 2 issues for the moment. The rubber window channel has reformed in a twist and that is why the window doesn't want to open. My Buddy suggests we boil it, reshape it and see if it holds. Any ideas failing that, where I can get new window gasketing?
Just back from the junkyard today and I think I scored! The MR2 was still there, and so were the parts. I got the Power Booster with the Master Cylinder. Boy was that ever a job to get at the bolts! Figures I took the clevis pin off the clutch and couldn't figure out why it wasn't coming out ...
OK... New question. The drivers door doesn't open. The handle on the outside seems to be disconnected and the inside latch doesn't work. I have the window down but I can't get the door skin off. Looking at the passenger door, I see the bar that is supposed to open the latch, but try as I might, I ...
This I think I figured out, it seems the Mazda has a two wire plug under the dash that you have to switch every 90k or so. So the light being on right now, signifies all is well. And that explains why I can't get the code to flash manually.
And of course the truck must be feeling rejected, since as ...
Petros' advice was great, and I have been looking at it for a while. There aren't any older cars in my local junk yards, so I am buying the full brake set new. The Power Booster for the MR2 is pricey, so I am trying to avoid that for now, and if I have to get larger wheels, I may just need to stick ...
Finally got it back from the mechanic! Now my work beings... brakes, alternator, radiator, and (for some unknown reason) the gas tank. The mechanic says fuel is not getting from the tank to the carb. Here are some pics! There is a bunch of spot rust, but nothing through the body. I am ordering the ...
Thanks for all the advice. My mechanic is a recent immigrant from Thailand, and he is fairly well versed in older toyotas, so I trust his abilities there. Now, doing it right versus doing it good enough? That's another question! The only part about the brake swap that has me wondering, is changing ...
I'm in Maryland. I will look at the brakes - do i just buy the newer parts and they just install? Any modifications? I have no idea about the 4wd unit, other than my friend told me his mother paid the dealership about $3000 to get it fixed.
I will have to get a timing light and change the timing ...
Thanks Guys! I will definitely look at the Tie Rod Ends. The wagon was sitting in an enclosed garage for the past 9 years. I am having a mechanic change out the timing belt, water pump, associated seals, belts and hoses (while he is in there), clean the carb, and fuel tank. He is also doing the ...
