sr5 gauge cluster

Post by Winterwagon »

after doing some searching on adding a inclinometer to my 87 T4WD i stumbled across a post that was talking about the gauge cluster and am a little confused. im pretty sure my car is a real SR5, but the gauge cluster has no tach. so im wondering if the SR5 came both ways or if this is a cluster from a different tercel?

i am also interested in buying a cluster with a tach and an inclinometer if anyone has a spare laying around.

Count me in! I want the tach cluster, and I would be interested in the inclinometer cluster too.

I believe all sr5 models had the tach on them, I've never heard of one without it.

The tach is an SR5 item, if you actually have the SR5 someone may have swapped out a DLX cluster from a wrecking yard if something was wrong with the original speedo. The SR5 has the wide trim on the outside (that has "SR5" on the passenger doors), "SR5" is also on the rear hatch next to the license plate (above the back up light). The SR5 has the fabric seats with the side grab handles, and the '83-84 (only, '85 and later never had it in North Amearica) has the incliometer. Also the upper half of the plastic door panels are vinyl covered instead of textured plastic. IF you do not have the SR5 stuff in it, it was never an SR5. The differences were only cosmetic except the tach, but that is an easy swap if you can find one in a wrecking yard.

After reading both your posts Petros im starting to think this was a DLx that someone tried to turn into an sr5. The trim is painted and it has no tach and there isn't an sr5 badge on the sides. At the same time it has cloth seats vinyl interior trim and sr5 badge in the rear. Sounds like I can pick up a few parts and complete the transformation haha.
