Re: Where are the switches for rear hatch located that turn on OPEN DOOR light?

Think you'll find the switch is part of the tailgate-mounted latch ass'y (at least that's where it is on my '85 T4- just checked it tonight.) You probably have a broken wire/wires where the harnesses pass from the body to the tailgate.

Wound up removing the stripped bolts and running a 7/16 inch tap (slightly larger diameter than the factory 10mm bolts)...

Re: Different Cv joints?

The CV joint you have is prob. for the later transverse-engine Tercels- ours are not serviceable. If you want to change the outer boot, you have to disassemble the inner joint.

Re: parts needed in shock

I've got the tail lights and rear sidemarkers- can't help out with the stuff for the front 'tho. Can't believe some maggot took the time to smash all the lenses. My only observation is, what's gonna keep it from happening again?? PM me if interested.

Re: Cold Start / Fast Idle Problem

Think you'll find your problem is with the choke break- either a ruptured diaphragm or bad (or improperly routed) vacuum line. Best way to diagnose is with a cold engine, take the air cleaner top off, have someone start the engine, and see if the choke flap opens slightly (it should.) If it doesn't,...

Re: Interior Parts

i've owned 11 Tercel wagons of various colors over the last 24 years, and ALL of them had ivory-colored A pillar trim. Pretty sure you're right Prof.- that's the only color that was available.

Re: Aftermarket Stereo question

My experience is that early and late model cars have different size connectors in the radio wiring harness. Late ('87 and '88) cars have small plugs, and early ('83-'85) cars have larger ones. Not sure about '86 (I've only had one of them and sold it 22 years ago without ever fooling with the radio....
