AC Low Pressure Port
This must be the most highly guarded secret in the world..Is the Low Pressure charging port on a 1986 on the Compressor itself? Searched for an hour and could not find the answer.. Thanks
Re: AC Low Pressure Port
Yes it is.
if it aint there, there's a good chance it won't break!

Re: AC Low Pressure Port
Thanks
I looked and I found two ports on top the compressor..One pointed forward at the front on top, one pointing rearward on the top..Which is it?
It worked fine for 3 years till last friday..It just starting running warmer and warmer over about a two Hour period it seems.. But now the clutch will not even come on..Maybe it has a leak, maybe it is a valve, maybe the compressor finally went..Probably end of taking it in when I can afford to pay if I cannot figure it out..

Re: AC Low Pressure Port
high side goes to the condenser, low side comes from the interior evap core.Carbineone1964 wrote: Wed Aug 07, 2024 12:18 pm Thanks

more than likely, the shaft seal on the compressor failed and leaked all the refrigerant out. every single second gen tercel ive owned all have had the same failure. i have also had the crimp fail on the rubber lines as well, though its a more rare thing to see.
you cannot get the compressor anymore, and full rebuild kits do not exist. you can get orings from rock auto and the shaft seal from ebay, but being able to do a diy successful rebuild is slim.
Contact me if you need transmission gaskets!

Re: AC Low Pressure Port
The compressor runs on a pressure switch. If the system is not at the threshold psi the power to the compressor and the auxiliary fan on the condenser does not activate. If it changed rapidly, then something failed somewhere. If it gave out over time, run a pressure check, ADD OIL, then vacuum and charge.Carbineone1964 wrote: Wed Aug 07, 2024 12:18 pm Thanks
