If I can't find an up to date Rock Auto code here on the forum I just search for "rock auto discount code" and go to the 'retail me not' site. Those have always worked for me. Here's one I just grabbed from there.

Re: Radiator story and pesky mud wasps

Wow, that's some good sleuthing you did there, Ace. You just never know what weird causes you will come across for some problems. I will try to remember this for future reference.

Did you fasten some kind of bug screen over the end of that hose to prevent it from happening again?

Sorry, I assumed you had a compression tester. They're cheap though, and are an important diagnostic tool to have if you own old cars, so I encourage you to grab one.

Re: Running too warm.

Other possibilities: Malfunctioning thermostat not opening fully. I could be wrong but I've always had the understanding that thermostats are designed to fail in the open position so that they when they fail, they only cause the engine to run cool and won't overheat it. That might be a broad genera...

Re: Running too warm.

I agree with you, the green line seems good and the yellow line seems a bit too hot. My first suspects with running hot are radiators and head gaskets. First thing I would do is a compression test to rule out the head gasket -- that's free and easy and gives you more information about what's going o...

Re: Transaxle install after transmission fix

These cars have no frame so the body is like an eggshell and has good strength if spread out.I don't see an option to add more pictures to show there was no damage to body. Should I start a new topic? No need for a new topic, you're good here! For adding more photos: below the white box, just click...

Re: Transaxle install after transmission fix

I agree with SirFoxx. I'm sure it was nice to not have to crawl under the car but this approach seems like it would have its own challenges.

What was wrong with the transmission?

Re: Looking for anyone with an intact factory air cleaner sticker

I can't help you with this but I love what you're trying to do here. Please post back with the results if you find a good one to copy, I might buy a sticker from you. This also got me thinking about painting the air cleaner cover -- it would be really easy to do, and make the engine bay look a lot n...

Re: Fuel tank access hole

removing the tank is actually not too difficult or time consuming. You just jack the car up, undo the screws and remove the trim around the gas filler neck, undo the two 14 mm (I think) bolts holding the tank up, and then lower it down on the straps. Once it's down you can remove the fuel hose from ...

Re: Horsepower

MarvinElliott, are you trolling? I feel like with even just a small amount of searching you would have to know that what you are asking for doesn't exist. There is plenty of info on the forum about advancing the timing, swapping a Weber carb in, and swapping 4AC engines in but those only garner mode...

Re: Fuel tank access hole

Yes, once the screws are removed that plate can theoretically be removed. I've found it usually needs some love taps and/or prying to get it separated though. Once you have done it once it can be removed with the tank in place but that first time, I've always had to remove the tank to have good acce...

Re: Busted speedometer gear cable housing thing.

I've had a few speedo's out of the transmission but not often or recent enough to be able to tell exactly what I'm looking at in your pics. In any case, your best bet is to find a good used one. I would check the Facebook group, Luke Anthony there (he goes by MrWrench here but is more active on the ...

Re: Tercel history question regarding carburetors

It was different from country to country. Here in Canada, I believe the 88-92 Corolla wagons were all EFI but it seems like some of them were still carb'd in the US. But yes, from everything I've seen all the second gen Tercels in North America were carb'd. It seems like Toyota's 'nicer' vehicles ca...

Re: Does anyone know what this is?

Welcome to the forum, WDM. I haven't seen one of those myself but it looks like part of the 'air suction' emission component. There is a factory service manual available here for download, I suggest getting that and looking up the air suction thing in the emission section. I think it basically just ...
