WTB: heater controls for 85 4wd sr5
Please can someone help..? bad time of year for my heater control's cable to freeze up. The metal lever behind the dash broke, and now i have to go under the hood to change from cold to warm air (i use the cold setting to help it warm up faster in the morning) if someone has just the metal lever that would be awesome, but i'll buy the whole control panel if i need to.

How's $15 for the control ass'y (with cables) plus the ride sound? BTW, the engine should heat up with the heater valve open- are you sure your t-stat is ok?
if it aint there, there's a good chance it won't break!

good question. i assumed thermostat is ok when i squeeze a radiator hose and hear the thermostat jiggle. not safe assumption i suppose. i can pay for the controls on the 20th. i also need to find the D shaped power steering rack bushing so i can do an alignment! i ordered it from rock auto but got the round one. think anyone on here would have the D shaped bushing?

rich, i got my finances worked out and want to get the heater control assembly from you. ive been manually working the valve under the hood, and now the cables froze up. valve still moves freely though.

usually the water control valve under the hood that the cable attaches to gets tight and that is why the controller bends
make sure you check/fix that

Love those Tercell 4x4 wagons but they sure suffer from road noise.

i find that dirt or buildup in the cable sheath is the cause of wrecking the controls. i usually just unclip the cable from the valve in the engine bay, hold it up, and dribble oil down the sheath. once it gets in pretty well i start working the control back and forth. has worked well for me several times.xirdneh wrote:usually the water control valve under the hood that the cable attaches to gets tight and that is why the controller bends

hook an air hose to the end and blow it all the way thru
