I'm looking for a charcoal canister without the outer vent control valve, as I lack the computer on the 1st gen to control it.
Any 1st gen tercel (80-82) canister would be preferred if you can find one in a sick and pull but a canada canister from a M/T Tercel would work too!
Unless, the "normal" second gen one with the computer controlled valve can be hotwired to function like the simpler ones, because I have one of those!

Re: Charcoal canister without OVCV
I just discovered that a late 80's Toyota pickup has the exact same canister as my Tercel. Maybe you can find a match where you live.

Re: Charcoal canister without OVCV
paul, i think you might be able to use a charcoal can with OVCV by simply deleting the OVCV and VSV from the setup. if your carb does not have the port for the OVCV off of the float chamber (our canadian carbs don't have that port), you would just plug the corresponding port on the can.
our canadian charcoal cans work without any computer stuff so i would imagine it should work fine for you once you remove those computer-controlled components. hopefully, anyway.

Ah, I wasn't sure if there was a valve that was stuck shut or something without the computer being there to tell it to open!
I'll review the charcoal can more in the 86 FSM and compare it to my 81 repair manual, thanks!
