Performance 3ac engine for sale.

I am currently upgrading my daily driver to a 4ac, since I had the rings fail in my performance built 3ac. the 3ac has about 100k miles or more since the last overhaul, and I am considering rebuilding the 3ac and offer it for sale if anyone is interested in it. this engine was the one in my personal daily driver for the last 8 years or so, I had originally built it for my personal use.

I will be installing in the 3ac, new rings and bearings (if the current bearings show any wear), seals, and the modified factory head gasket.

Here is what the engine offers: It is bored out .040" oversized pistons, it has both the block and the head shaved, plus it has the flat top high compression pistons. All of the moving parts were fully balanced, the head was ported and polished and it has new exhaust valves and new valve stem seals. It also has the Delta cams 260 street performance regrind cam shaft. It was all expertly built

the problem, and caution, with this engine is that it has about 11:1 compression ratio. it gives it extra power and decent fuel economy, but it also means you MUST run premium fuel, or ALWAYS use octane booster (or both). I have had to replace the head gasket a number of times because of it, and I think I have that problem solved with my current head gasket modification and installation procedure. However, there is that risk that it may need a replacement head gasket every 3 or 4 years, depending on how it is treated.

I have no idea what it is worth. A used but good running stock engine is worth about $300-400. What would one be worth with fresh rings, seals and gaskets? What is it worth to have all the performance mods done to it?

This engine will also need a flywheel, you can use your existing one or have one lightened. the lightened and balanced one I had on this one is going on my 4ac. Lightening does not affect power out put or economy, it just makes it more throttle responsive, allowing it to rev up faster.

If some one is interested in this engine, I will get it ready for them and I should have it ready by sometime in November (I have several other projects ahead it right now). Or you can choose what other mods you want done to it and we can negotiate a reasonable price. If no one wants it, I might just rebuild it this winter and keep it as a spare engine.

a thought occured to me overnight. I have a complete stock head that I could port and rebuild, and install the Delta cam shaft in it, and build the engine up with this low compression head, likely would be about 9.75:1 compression ratio so it would not have the fuel quality issues (this is only a little higher than the stock CR).

I have been out of town, if someone wants to buy it I will install new rings and seals, or sell it as-is, however they want it. So it will take me about a week or two to get it ready.

well my motor seems to be holding together for now..... i may run this one through the winter and then upgrade next spring. if it's still around ill def be looking into it. it's basically everything i'd like to do to mine. what carb is on it ?

I used the stock carb, works great. but I have that on my 4ac right now, all I am selling is the long block.
