Camber on lifted front end

Post by sigma »

So.....if I lift the front end of my Turtle 4WD wagon how am I going to overcome the camber issue????
Has anyone found a longer lower arm that will fit or manufactured one to push the lower ball joint out a bit to overcome the problem......or is it even necessary? Just I'm worried about tyre wear, handling etc. if I do lift the Turtle a bit

no one that has lifted a t4 has had camber issues. if you do find the camber looks off, there is an easy adjustment. just loosen the top nut and bolt that attaches the steering knuckle to the bottom of the strut and rotate the adjuster. snug the nut and bolt back up and that's that.

if you're interested in front lift ideas, check #9 in the FAQ, found here:

if you lift the front of the car too much (more than about 1-1.5") you will wipe out your cv axles very fast because of the angle, and likely damage the top seal on teh struts when they top out when you are on rough ground. you have to lower the trans to get much more lift without damaging the cv axles, but you loose ground clearance to do that so there is not much point in raising the front more than about an inch.

Good luck.
