83 tercel 4wd complete car for $150.00

I have an 83 Tercel 4wd wagon that I need to get rid of asap. I have owned the car since 1994. I have a clean title to it also.

I just thought someone might want it for parts before I have it hauled to the crusher. It's an 83 SR5 and the engine and drivetrain worked fine when parked. The engine was replaced a few years ago with a remanufactured engine from Advance Auto Parts. It's really rusted and dirty, however, it's white with gray and blue interior. I want to get $150.00 for it. I'm located near Asheville NC.

welcome the forum Donald.

Please do not send it to the crusher, the transmission alone on these things are getting hard to find and a good one is worth more than you want for the car. If the body is not completely rusted out, and it can be repaired, the car can be restored and there are lots of list members that would be happy to get it from you to fix up. It is well worth the effort, clean examples of these great little 4x4 are selling for good prices. Even if the gody is too far gone, the parts alone are worth to those of use that are restoring these great little 4wd cars.

If you were closer to me I would be happy to get it, but there are some forum members that are in your part of the country that will want to take a look at it. just give it some time.

How is the body? Drivetrain? Is it repairable? Drivable?

Does it have AC? Manual or Auto?

The car has AC and is a manual transmission. I need this gone asap. I just want to get rid of it. If it isn't gone by 06/12/2013. It has to go to the crusher. Terribly rusted. The drivetrain was good when parked. In my opinion, the body is not worth the headache of rust repair. I wouldn't recommend driving it due to the car setting up which isn't good for wheel cylinders, etc. I had originally hoped I could find a good body to do a drivetrain swap, but, never found one.

i agree that it's not worth repairing the rust. if i was buying the car, i would just live with it. shiny cars are a fashion show anyway, not my cup of tea.

best of luck selling it, it looks well worth saving but i understand just needing to get rid of stuff sometimes. have you posted it on craigslist? i'm sure someone will jump on it at that price.

As much as I would love to take the whole car, I fear shipping it 1,700 miles would be cost prohibitive.

I have a friend who purchases a lot of rx7's from all over and has them shipped and he says shipping would probably be around $500-600 for the whole car.

even if you just imagine the shipping cost of the car as part of the purchase price (making it $650-$750), that's still a decent price. i say go for it. at worst, you could clean it up and resell it at a small profit.

I just tried to uninstall the inclinometer and it's pretty much shot. It's not really worth having. The top is cracked terribly and I damaged it by accident, I guess brittle from the sun. Sorry about that. But on a positive note, I have a local guy who is supposed to pick it up for parts today. Thank you all very much.

If it has a good transmission, that alone is worth about $250 to $400. all the other parts are "extra". the inclionmeter cover can be repaired, those are highly sought after and worth restoring no matter the condition. the cracks get filled and the cover "painted" with color vinyl spray.

Yeah, that is why I was going after it, for when I eventually upgrade to a 4WD!
