New guy needs help finding OEM carb vac line

Post by mountaindude »

Hi guys. I have owned 3 Tercels. They have been great cars and have saved my life travelling daily through the high mountain passes in the Sierra Nevada over a 7740ft pass in icy/snowy conditions.

Anyway. I snapped a brittle vacuum hose that goes from the carb into the air cleaner and NEED a replacement BADLY. Can anyone help me locate a source for these hoses? Thanks in advance. Dude

welcome, mountaindude. i'll be heading your way to see some sequoias in several months. i'm excited to see the area.

anyway, that hose you need is generic so just take the broken one to any auto parts store and ask for however long a piece you need. they will measure it and get the correct size for you. another good bet would be going to a wrecker that has any second gen tercels (all hatchbacks, fwds, and 4wds '83-'87 share the same engine and carb) and pull the hose off of a wreck.

Thanks. I will do that.

I have relied on the Tercels for over 12 years as I trek to work 29 miles, and in the worst snow conditions you can imagine. I throw studded tires on the front wheels. So long as you are not pushing too much snow, you are golden. Typically, I have a massive survival pack/sleeping system/clothing etc. in my vehicle as people get caught up here and die yearly. I grew up here, and I am used to the conditions. The roads are salted so older, reliable vehicles are the smart choice.

Thanks again for the info.
