My 86 is leaking brake fluid, Looks like where the plastic reservour meets the master cylinder body, fluid is coming out right below where is says aisin.
I dont see any visible cracks in the plastic, but the reservour feels kinda loosly attached...maybe a bad seal in there of some sort....wondering if its easier to fix this one, or pull one from the car at the pick n pull. I cant tell how to get the reservour off the body tho..

Re: brake fluid leak
do a search here for brake booster. i think petros mentioned a few months ago that you can get a rebuild kit for the booster, which is probably a better bet than one from the wrecker that might be just as worn as yours is.

Re: brake fluid leak
Welcome to the list!
there is two big thick o-rings where the brake reservoir meets the top of the master cylinder. These are not hard to replace, likely the auto parts stores can order a kit. But better make sure the leak is actually the rubber o-ring, these are usually pretty reliable. The plastic reservoir usually gets brittle and can get cracked. Not sure if you an buy a new one, but a wrecking yard one is not a bad bet since these are usually reliable.
If you buy a new master cylinder, sometimes they come with a new reservoir, sometimes not (you would need to re-use the old one), it just depends on the brand. If your master is questionable it might be worth just getting a new one (I do not recommend a rebuilt one, buy new if you can), and verify it comes with a new reservoir (last time I bought one it was about $75). but if the master is good I would just get a used reservoir, and the used o-rings, from the wrecking yard. It is a fast and easy replacement, you rock it back and forth gently while you pull on it straight up. I would remove the brake fluid first. Once you have yours off you can investigate the cause of the leak.
Good luck.

Re: brake fluid leak
thx for the info fellas. I did grab a clean low miles one off a parts car my buddy had, so Im gonna take the two apart and see if I can make one good one. otherwise ill order the kit if needed. the unit unbolts quite easy. I also picked up an extra valve cover, carb, alternator, 4 better seats, centercap, fuel gauge sender + misc vac hoses i was missing.
was a good day for parts!
Have you guys ever tried to remove the entire antenna from the car ?? I need to get the intact antenna off my parts car and onto my driver - cannot figure out how to detach the rubber grommit where it passes thru the quarter panel ....
