Just want to see if anyone has had this issue. I was doing about 70 MPH on the freeway and after about 40 min. I was loosing power, and had to slow down and exit. It back fired a couple of times, and once I had got off the freeway it was fine. This has happed a few times. I'm wondering if this is emissions related. Just had to emission test it today, and it passed with a A+ rating. Any ideas? Thanks..

Might be fuel starvation...replace the fuel filter? Carb problems? EGR problems?
Give a boy a gun-give a biatch a cell phone-and pretty soon you almost got yourself a police state.

The coil is another possibility.

Give the following a try.
Check your firewall for oil, specifically behind the fuel pump, which is right behind the carb (bronze in color) If there IS oil there, run to NAPA and grab a new fuel pump. If there is not, check your oil on the dipstick for excessive gasoline smell. Thats another symptom of a bad fuel pump, though it can indicate a few other things as well.
Shine a flashlight at the bottom of your fuel filter. Do you see a good amount of sediment? Replace it. Has it been 15,000 since you changed it? Change it. It doesn't cost much, so you may as well try that.
I don't quite know how to test the coil, but if the other 2 things don't help, let us know and I'm sure someone can tell you.
Check your spark plugs. Are they clean? Are they within wear limits? What color are they?
Check your timing if you have a timing light.

And just because it is important to do, change your tranny fluid if it has been more than 50,000 since the last change. I'd recommend Amsoil or Schaeffer.

Hope that helps.
