'83 SR5 T4wd. Seattle CL $1495.

Post by Petros »

back up on Seattle craig's list (not one of mine):

http://seattle.craigslist.org/kit/cto/3439790915.html

This one is not far from list member Xirdneh, maybe he can go take a look at it if anyone is interested.

add reads:

"1983 Toyota Tercel Wagon, 4wd, runs good, 30 plus mpg, 6 speed, SR5, about 165,000 miles, $1,495 call 360-372-2864

Below is NADA price guide---

1983 Toyota Tercel SR5 4 Door Station Wagon 4x4

Retail Low $1,850
Retail Average $2,875
Retail High $3,825"

Does NADA really show our Tercel4wd at $3825? even the low price seems a bit high. this one has damaged rear quarter panel as you can see.

they do except they are rather underpowered. being 4wd they put in in a class of other AWD cars with much bigger engines. If you do a 4age swap, than you would be competitive. they also seem to make good ice racing cars, where power is not as much the advantage but light weight.

I would love to fix up a cheap beater and than take over to the africa ralley, or something similar where people enter cheap beaters and leave them behind.

I was checking out this car today
except for the bit of damage to the right rear qtr panel its not bad body wise
interior looks ok too
engine sound ok too
only problem was there is a noise coming from tranny area
its quiet when clutch is pressed down
the noise quiets down some after driving a ways (probably tranny oil warming and getting around better)
my guess is tranny bearing
possibly the front input shaft bearing ?
pretty sure its not pilot bearing as that would probably be noisy whether clutch was pressed or not
seems like throw-out bearing would make noise when only clutch is pressed
Love those Tercell 4x4 wagons but they sure suffer from road noise.
