Greenmachine's hawaiian tercel 4x2 build

Post by greenmachine »

Aloha from Hawaii. Got me a 4x2 wagon 5 speed and im in the process of building her up. The long antennas in the pic are CB.Ham radio antennas as i am a first responder member here in the islands. Got some ideas for bodywork starting with shaving all lock holes, 32/36, 200 amp drop in alternator, custom battery tray, working ac, debadge emblems and more. Well heres some pics of her so far..

is the car from hawaii originally? i know you guys battle rust like crazy there, which might explain all the primer on it.

although this forum is primarily used by 4x4 owners, the majority of these cars overlap so there should be lots of info here, or potential info if you need help with anything. be sure to check the FAQ for things to be done after first acquiring one of these things, especially checking the sway bar ends:

Welcome to the list!

Must be hard finding used parts in the wrecking yards there for something so old. There are still a few around here, but rust is not as much a problem as elsewhere.

It will be a fun project to see you finish it.

Regardless of my complete ignorance of how your lovely chain of islands is setup, and where you are located exactly in that respect, I came across this ad a couple of weeks ago. I never posted it, because it is a FWD, but it looks like one of those 'Oh, what a feeling' type ads. Maybe it could be made available as a backup to your Terc. Welcome to the club!

I'm going nuts trying to place those wheels. What are they from? They look great on a Terc. Are there any j-yards in Hawaii? Maybe just one that has all the old vehicles from Lost? I guess it also has Magnum PI's 308 too.

Damn right mullets still rule, Tom.
It's a scientific fact that in a twin engine aircraft, when one engine fails there is always enough power in the remaining engine to make it all the way to the crash site.

Hi,

The rims are 13" from a 92-95 Honda civic VX.

They are the lightest rims made for honda at the time. Im pretty sure they are only 8 pounds each rim.

I disabled my power steering and made it into manual by plugging up all the lines. The stock heavy rims were hard to steer. When i put on these ultra light civic vx rims, it was almost like i had power steering again.

Sorry been busy lately. Car has been painted but trans broke (5 speed stuck in 5th gear) im gonna trash the car and drive my 86 auto wagon instead. Will try and get the finished pics up soon
