I can see why I never had a lot of luck reading Shakespeare.....way too many words used to get around to saying things. Not that I don't understand the words...just a matter of putting them together into some sort of meaning....tiresome.

I'd bet you that the avg man on the street in England in those days would be lucky to have a 3000 word vocabulary.

On another note....I have some concern about the moderation on this forum. Hows come this post doesn't show up when one clicks the View New Posts link?

It will only pop up as a New Post once for a particular member. When someone makes an additional post to it, then it will pop up again - but only once for that particular viewer.
This has been the same for all threads for years.

TOM-i think i might crawl from under my rock on this one(just hibernating) just give me a little time to wake up- i once dewlt in this stratford warwickshire and many a tyme didst tarry along thee said streets of thist joyoust town-D

It would be nice to have a story book written like that with traditional Victorian type lavish illustrations. Teaches children the importance of being literate, rather than the poor grammar clipped techno-glish (babble) everyone learns.

Question: Did every one around there talk like that?

But don't mind me....there was once a guy on this forum who turned out to be from Jamaica and actually typed in the same manner....or rather he typed like he must have talked.
