Where I live I have to park on a hill, and I've been parking facing downhill. Only problem is my car does not like to start in the morning after being parked this way all night. I can usually get it going if I pump the gas a few times, and if it's low on gas I sometimes have to let it roll down the hill a bit to get it going. I've thought about parking facing uphill, but I'm nervous about doing that if it will have the same starting problems, because rolling backwards while trying to start is not so easy as rolling frontwards.
Is this going to hurt my car?
Should I park facing uphill?
Why does it do this?
Thanks for any help!

carb float level is low maybe? you can check it through the viewing glass located on the front of the carb. check the FSM (link found at the top of each page) for details, page 153 or FU-3.

Re: Hard to Start after parking downhill
it should not harm anything, i routinely roll start my car since I live on a hill (and I will need a new battery soon, so it starts faster with a roll start). Some claim it wears the clutch, but I think if done with care it is not any worse than shifting into first and driving off from a stop.
Cause could be weak fuel pump, pin hole leak in fuel line, or as stated low float level in carb.
Does it seem any different when tank full or low? You sure it is related to hill, and not just cold damp weather?
Mine always struggles in cold damp weather on the first start of the day, I think there might be moisture condensing in the intake manifold or even the distributor. Once started and reved up it runs and starts okay for the rest of the day.
