Radio not working

Post by Devin »

I check both radio fuses and both are fine. The light turns on on the radio and the speakers make noise with a casette but no music. What do you think? Do I need a new stereo?
Thanks

It sounds like it. I do not know much about radios, i have found the factory toyota radios hold up pretty good, but I have found them like yours, dead at times too. I would take it out, and check your connections. Pull the top off and clean out the dust. Look for any corrosion or burnt contacts or component (If you find any it is trash). If all looks good spray it out with tuner cleaner, might put some light LPS on it and see if it works. Probably not worth spending any money on it, PIckNPull sells car sterios for about $15. look around for a Toyota radio and it should plug right in.
