Sorry. I've been distracted with moving, and have averaged only 4 hours of sleep for the last week. Sold my diesel VW bug yesterday, and it was in such good condition that the guy gave me $850 more than I was asking! When was the last time that happened?!?
Anyway, I think $500 - $700 is a little low for this relatively nice vehicle. It's got new front wheel bearings, a new battery, an engine warmer, and a newly rebuilt starter. No rust, only one small dent in the tailgate, and it's missing the upper left windshield molding corner clip (now unavailable from the dealer - anyone know where I can get one?). Several extra parts, including another SR-5 seat, snow tires on rims, and a pair of rear shocks. Everything in it still works, which I really appreciate, considering my experience with the VW and my Ford Windstar. My research indicates that these cars are now going for an average of $1650 for vehicles that are actually driveable. That surprised me, but these cars are starting to get rare.
Anyway, my son lives on Whidbey Island, and it turns out he needs a car right now, so I think I'll leave it with him. That'll give us a chance to do some engine work, and maybe we'll sell it later. In the meantime, when I come back for ski season, I'll have a ski-mobile to drive!
