Swapping hatchback front seats to wagon

Post by fawmaine »

Is there any info regarding the swapping of front seats of Tercel hatchback to a wagon. If the swap works what years would be compatible? My wagon is a 1988. Do any members know of a source for pre-fabricated body panels? There is a shop in VT who
at one time had the pattern for the wagons rockers and rear quarters. Not at this time though. I would like to ask him how many units are needed to be ordered for him to consider making them. Let me know if anyone is interested in a group purchase. You can reply by PM. Thanks. fawmaine (Ned)

not sure about compatibility but the seats are only fastened with four 14 mm bolts so you could just take some measurements between the 4 mounting points and compare them with your T4. let us know what you find.

I would think the seats are perfectly interchange from all models '83-86, and up to the '88 wagon. But I have never tried it. Unless you are lucky enough to find SR5 seats that match I would just buy a good quality seat cover. the 2wd seats are not very good quality, lost of plastic and not much support, they typically crack in the cold and brake up, leaving you worse off than if you just kept your old seats. I have seen it. Go with a quality seat cover, or even have new upholstery made for your driver's seat from your old one.
