I chiseled the cage off from around the nut. It wasnt holding the nut anymore so it had to go. The access hole is too small to get the right wrench through, and my grinder would make too big of a hole and weaken the area. Im worried that if I weld the nut to the body, that the nut and bolt might be seized together due to rust, and therefore when I go to loosen it, it would tear the sheet metal that the bolt goes through...
Am I overthinking this?

I was overthinking it. I took an adjustible wrench and made the hole larger to were I could get a socket on a stick through there. The stick thing has a 3/8 drive on it that slides the length of the bar. Its just small enough to get a 11/16th socket through the hole allowing me to keep the nut from turning. (The nut is a square nut...last time I saw one like it was on an IHC 2 bottom plow from 1910ish)
GUESS WHAT?! Just like I predicted...the nut and bolt are seized tight as all get out. Heating the nut with a propane torch till it was cherry red helped alot, but Ive still super tight. Ive got a buddy pulling on the ratchet while I hold the nut, and hes about pulled the car off the jackstand twice. The second time we decided to take a break and recoup. About to head back out there and heat it up again so we can finish this off. Unfortunately...theres still the passenger side to do...

Gonna hit up fastenal monday cause the threads are all buggered up on the bolt. Also the new to me junkyard bushings are beautiful. Almost brand new.
