Romans ate weird stuff

This is a pretty nifty find, but the Romans had some odd dietary habits. From the article "The sewer also offered up items of pottery, a lamp, 60 coins, necklace beads and even a gold ring with a decorative gemstone." I wonder if it is a dietary craving, like how my cat craves power cords? Plus a gold ring with a gemstone, someone was eating good.

The Pompeii eruption created some good job security for archaeologists and did a great job preserving everyday life that normally decay away in a matter of years (at a cost to the people who couldn't escape).

Ate a lot of veggies. And no GMOs....antibiotics....growth hormones....artificial dyes...chemicals and additives in processed food...sugar....poor fats..... Did use lead pipes and had lead vessels to drink from and so forth? Bet they weren't 1/3 to 1/2 overweight either. But...alas...their empire fell...as will the US mess...eventually...maybe sooner than most think?

Who is Auntie?

Man I want to watch that so bad, but "Video not available in your region." :( I just started putting track down for a model of a logging railroad that ran through my college campus in the 1880's.
