new terc @ malahat auto

Post by dlb »

for any vancouver islanders interested, malahat auto just got a topaz '85 or '86 SR5. the body is rusted out but the rest appears to be in quite good shape. i'm probably going to grab a few things for my current T4 project but it's hasn't been touched yet so go at 'er. the seat covers are in very good condition, i want to grab them for petros but that place is so expensive that it wouldn't be worth it. the front seat head rests need a wash and the rest just needs vacuuming.

Actually I can get by with just one seat, the driver's seat, if it is the same pattern as Reggi. If they would let you buy just the cover off of it, would that be very expensive? If so, get the passenger side cover, it will fit on the driver's side and is always in better shape. I need the diagonal pattern in blue, not the diamond pattern (unless I get both, but I do not want to spend that much).

it's not the same blue grey. it's a brown that i haven't seen before. both the sides and the central panels are all a medium brown. it looks kind of VW-ish. i'm sure others are familiar with it but i've never seen a terc interior in this colour so i'm pretty excited about it. i actually thought about getting the covers for reggie but then i remembered that reggie will always be an ugly duckling.

i wish the car was my parts car. so much good stuff on it.

I could use a nice seat cover for the driver's seat on a Topaz '86 SR5 with the diagonal fabric pattern. It seems to be hard to locate a wagon like this in So Cal junkyards.

T4R, if you want, take a pic of your interior and if it matches the one at the wrecker i will pull the fabric for you. like petros suggests i would take the passenger seat cover since it would naturally be less worn. if you're interested in this i'll just call and ask them how much they want for it and let you know so you can decide if you want me to go ahead with it. it would be a shame to let such a good interior go to waste, which they always do at wreckers. doors and windows get left open, stuff gets soaked, and that's it.
