Heater core

Post by toughtercel »

I just had my heater core replace few months ago, before I install the other use heater core , I took it to Radaitor shop to have it tested , then I start asking radman question like if there a new one ever made ( Toyota made or Aftermarket made ) but he was saying , it took him long time if someone ever made one for Tercel and if they do then it would be over $400 for the heater core . Today there aren't many Radaitor shop around . So I better start saving couple my self as long it been raise in the heater core severly times with fresh water .

you can still buy new one, aftermarket for sure. But I do not know how long those will be available, likely what we get now is just old stock. I have two spares I am hanging onto. However it would not be that costly to have your old heater rebuilt (less the $400 anyway), and it might be possible to find something similar in size and alter the inlet and outlet enough to work.\

Better hold on to any old ones just in case.

That why i mention that "Today there aren't many Radiator shop around " because many Mechanic shop order ready made radiator . Those top and bottom heater tank that have rig so it goes into dip of heater core so they are special made for Toyota , with America car with heater cord that have heater tank that are flat on bottom of the tank so any shape of heater core can be solider on .
