87 tercel 4wd wagon wont shift into any rear facing gears
I am looking at buying an 87. It shifts fine into any of the forward direction gears (1st, 3rd, 5th). However will not shift back into 2nd, 4th, or reverse. I really want this car but need reeverese especially. Has anybody seem this before?

Any number of things go bad on these trannys.
you will have to take it apart to fix it
i have taken several broken ones apart
never put one back together
easier to find another tranny
unless you have or know someone who has worked on them
if you do decide to try and fix it i might be able to help out getting used parts

Love those Tercell 4x4 wagons but they sure suffer from road noise.
