Located in Lenoir NC. 37K (!) miles! Incredible condition! Lots of pix. Currently at $2850 with 5+ days to go.
Still has the luggage cover - and - even the glovebox handle is not cattywampus! The engine bay is pristine! Has AC.
OMG, but the interior is BEE-YOUTIFUL!

The glove box handle IS off some...FACTORY DEFAULT! :!:

So THAT'S what a new one looks like.

that's unreal! two things though: what is with the hood ornament? is that an old toyota symbol? and what are the small black dots on the rear corners, just above the bumper?

someone from here better get this.

WOW! Up to $4K, with 5 days still to go! And - 15 unique bidders thus far - bodes well for future interest & members!
I sent the seller an email asking him to add the Club's address.
As to the hood mascot - that emblem has appeared on a number of (primarily/only) Southern USA cars; maybe it was a add-on by the South Eastern Toy distributor?
As to the black dots above the rear bumpers - I just checked old photos of my then-new '83 SR5 and they do not appear ? ? ?

Wow~! If it was only 2000 miles closer I'd be interested in it. Incredible condition.

I noticed the "ToyoGuard" sticker on the rear glass. Is that rustproofing? Some dealer or aftermarket rustproofing involved drilling a few small holes in body panels to inject their 'special sauce' rustproofing agents. They would then plug 'em with a removable plug and try to convince you to come back for subsequent re-application. Anyway, don't know if that's what those black dots are?

That rustproofing suggestion seems to have merit - a way to inject it into the two rear "chassis" sections?

It's up to $4550 - and - I just noticed that the seller had some grand plans for the price - it has a Reserve that has not yet been met...! ! !

What are the main (other than cosmetic) differences between my 87 4wd and this 84?

This vehicle is truly in exceptional condition. If you look closely, you can see the texture on the shifter which has not been worn smooth by use. The buttons on the radio are intact, usually with age, the chrome tape begins to peel off. If I had the funds and a garage I would gladly add this exceptional example to my collection. There have only been a few of these exceptional vehicles for sale within the past few years, I wonder how many more remain hidden in garages. I passed an exceptional white '85-'86 DLX wagon that looked as if it had spent its entire life protected from the elements in a garage on the freeway awhile back. Furthermore, even the white steel wheels were shiny! I wonder what the story was behind this one.

Besides the cosmetic - seats, interior shade, and steering wheel, the greatest mechanical difference would be that this '84 has the 3.73:1 final drive, which inhibits performance from a stock engine. The '87 has the 4.10:1 final drive which has overall better response with the stock engine, it's a very noticeable difference.

Geeze, I want this car!!!!! It won't surprise me if this car sells for over 10K. Hope we hear from the successful bidder. Thanks for the info. I've had my 87 since November 2000, it is perfect for where and how we live. These cars were meant to be driven, not stored and admired.

In late '82, my new '83 SR5 was a tad less than $9000. No AC, possibly no PS, no roof rack and base radio.

Dang - Synth beat me to it! Read the Comments therein - pretty interesting.
This inclusion on BaT should bring a lot of attention - many more Comments than I would have thought!
I did get a nice plug in for the Club.
I would REALLY disagree with the first phrase of the lead paragraph, though - Philistine!

P.S. I do know how to spell "fairly" - I was just SO excited to get the Comment in, my fingers flew on the keyboard!
