'87 Tercel SR5 4WD Wagon in Milwaukee area

Post by olga19 »

It has a crack in chassis near the drivers side control arm. 3AC engine runs great 176xxx miles with alot of life left! oil changed every 2000 miles. recently rebuilt 6 speed transmission shifts great and 4wd works. front qtrpanels are torn up a bit but they still retain basic shape and strength :) Interior is in good condition w/ no rips or tears. Power sunroof works and has never leaked! comes with late 90s sony aftermarket cd/stereo. has custom stainless steel exhaust from downpipe back w/o cat. comes with an extra set of wheels and an '83 transmission. Also comes with original 1987 owners manual.

$600 obo
(note: inclometer not included)

i'd say that's more than a crack, and honestly wouldn't let anyone drive it away because it's really not safe to have that on the road. sorry to be a downer, olga19.

You might as well state up front that you are selling it as a parts car...probably not easily fixable...unless someone was a REAL pro welder. Has a good engine and trans...together worth $500-600? Good for someone that needs an new engine and a spare trans?

A skilled welder could fix all that. The way it is now, it does not look safe to drive. You have the '87 grill and steering wheel, but also the '83-85 inclinometer, did you retro fit that into it?

In Australia the inclometer was not standard in the later model but I think it was an option? Seeing as that car has the sunroof/AC and nice interior. it might be worth rebuiding the underbody if you had the skills?

Anyone wondering how this one has the inclinometer -- it's an '87! I thought those were discontinued after '84.

Lets see, to incline means a slope or grade, so an Inclinometer means to measure the slope. So inclinometer is the correct modern use if measuring the slope is our intent. But interestingly the on-line dictionary states the compound word dating from Indo-European means; in- into or toward, plus cline, to lean. So clinometer would be more accurate, because you are measuring how far the car is leaning, rather than the angle of the slope.

I like using mine as an accelerometer, to see how fast it can go around a turn. I should calibrate the scale into percent of one g.

holy f*ck, that accelerometer bit cracked me up. true nerd humour, i love it.

thank you for your sleuthing, petros: henceforth, i shall refer to these things as clinometers! so let it be written, so let it be done.
