Check out this minty 2WD for sale near Salem, OR. It only has 81,000 miles on it! This is so low that I may actually have concerns about it sitting for a while, but nevertheless, it's a good looking vehicle (I'm partial to the dark blue color).

without the 4wd, it just another old econo-box from the '80s. It would be a good buy i think at half that price.

If it didn't have the auto...you might hit 40 mpg with it?

takza's right, the 2WD reportedly get better mileage. not surprising as the 4WD has all that extra weight to carry around.

The rear cargo is big , it can flip the rear seat then rear (back) fold down complety flat , 4WD doesn't , but FW shocks tower cause cargo more narrower than 4WD. Just for the record that rear shock strut are NOT the same as FW hatchback (shorter).
I would rather have FW S.W. than Hatchback.

The very first Tercel wagon I ever rode in was a 1983 2wd. Very spacious in the back without that 4wd rear driveshaft hump.
I like the 4wd version better, although if you didn't need 4x4, like in Florida or some other godforsaken place, the 2WD wagon is comfy.
When I first started looking to buy a T4WD, I passed up a 2WD wagon that was, like this one, a single owner garaged car in minty shape, with less than 50 k on the auto tranny. It was a super looking car, though. Just didn't want 2wd, and an automatic.
