Heater switch question

Post by Bluebelles Mom »

I have noticed that the 4 speed switch in my car only works in the two highest speeds. I have not attempted to get at the switch...yet....I have a bad back and I would like to avoid 'under dash acrobatics' if possible. Could this be a matter of contact cleaning or are these things prone to old age failure? Suggestions?

Check the blower motor resistor, its behind the control panel, not too difficult to get to.

Thanks. I think that is what I read about when I used the search feature. The resisters that are behind the glove box? I read the 'fix' someone used for splicing the broken wires back together. I will tackle that in the near future, I don't feel like working on the old girl today....this old girl needs a break. :)

That's one of the big dangers when working under the dash...hard to get to stuff and hard on the back. I think the best bet is a pair of knee pads instead of sitting.

second to last post here, i replaced the resistor pack recently and posted some pics. i imagine the resistor packs from all the hatchback and coupe tercels should probably fit too, though i haven't checked.

That looks pretty easy. I will be haunting pick and pulls soon to find a replacement. Thank you. :D
