okay everyone reading this hoping to see sweet pics or read cool info is now surely disappointed. but reading the "other cars like mine" thread along with the more recent "tercel vs honda civic wagon 4wd" thread has made me think that yes indeed the Tercel is my ultimate offroader, if ever I find a good one. And either swap in fuel injection or put a good carb on there. Cuz what's good for people driving around in freakin Afrika is good enough for me!

Anyway so I am like "yeah yeah yeah! someday, find that 1988 or 89 wiht a bad engine, and buy that, and then something rusty with a good engine that is one of the sweet swaps...."
when suddenly I realised....that the prospect of finding a Tercel with a bad engine...is somewhat bleak. Why would one have a bad engine? I mean they DO go bad, they aren't immune to dying, but I bet almost all of the time they are in vehicles that are in complete disrepair and thus useless to my cause.

And even if I DID find a nice one and pay big bucks for it, some dude in a huge nasty Blazer would probably rear-end me and destroy the whole thing.

So I should just find myself a nice one! Not an awesome one...just a nice one. sub-2k dollars should do it.

someday. someday!

Then....camping! yay! The glorious thing about building up a little 2200 lbs Tercel into offroader is....if/when I DO get stuck, the stuck-ness won't be nearly as bad as a larger 4wd truck...and pulling the tercel out will require a tiny little portable winch, rather than the huge winches required to pull out those 5000lb trucks.

cool

Just don't steal my baked beans when I tell you a tale of woe and.. SPAM..
Go look in the gallery. Go look in my thread. The pic of the dead Terc should be there. It has little rust and a dead engine. Does that make me some kind of freak or what?
NOO!! MY BAKED BEANS! THEY ARE GONE!! (Why am I holding a spoon and a bowl filled with bean residue...)
I'll also have the pics of my folks little red Tercel up soon. Little rust and a dead tranny... Am I a freak or what? (grabs his hickory SPAM)

Lol... It's not mine to give for one thing and for another, 4wdrules already spoke with me about the potential of buying it from my folks. Not to say we won't repair the red and silver Tercs, but in the case that after partswapping we have a rolling chassis....

sorry,as much as i love my tercel,i'd rather be off roading in my 88 4runner with the solid front axle swap and the 33 inch BFG M/T tires.

Well, while that may be true, I've been there before, and now am looking for something a little different.

kinda like the "two door vs four door" debate seen on other forums, at any given time? or "locker vs lsd" or "independant vs solid" or "auto vs stick"
heh everyone has their own thing I guess...otherwise it would get pretty boring I suppose
