Radio help!

Post by idaho_girl »

Hello Tercel friends! I bought my little Tercel well-used in July of this year, and I love it! The four wheel drive is so great in the snow! There's one thing that I haven't figured out though, and I feel kind of silly about it: how to assign the preset radio station buttons. Could anyone explain to me how? It's the stock stereo, by the way. Thanks so much! :D

Welcome to the Club! Lots of helpful and talented folks here!
Below is a page from the '85 OM I have; all the radios used utilized the same system (I had a beloved '83 back in the day).

Welcome to the list!

You must be young, all radios worked this way at one time. Not surprised you never saw one of these radios before. It is easy: You pull out the button, it pops up about a 1/4" or so, and than set to the station you want with the knob, and than you push that button back in. All set.

That makes me laugh, because the first time I tried to tune a modern car radio , I could not find any buttons that would pull out to set the stations!!!

I chuckled at both of these.
1. 2005: When my grandson saw me pulling on the buttons, he asked if I was mad at the radio and was trying to pull it out of the car.
2. Fast forward to 2010: I had my daughter's Pilot for 10 days while housesitting and was fumbling while trying to change one of the presets; my grandson volunteered (without snickering !) after seeing me fumble as did hberdan.

i just looked in the manual for my car which was made in june of '86 but is an '87 model, and it had a different stock stereo. for it, to preset the stations, you go to the station you want to make a preset, then press whichever preset button you want to assign that station to, and hold it for a few seconds until the stereo beeps.
