Typrus and I were getting off on a tangent, so I thought I'd start a new thread. Anyone else as addicted to RC as they are to their full size toys?

Hey Typrus - that 2' nitro hammer sounds like a riot. It's probably in the air more than the water, right? Speaking of which, sounds like you've had some serious air time with all those planes. I haven't been bit by that bug yet, but it's probably not far off.
My boat is gas, not nitro. Zenoah make the best engines for these things, and all it took was $75 Cdn plus shipping to that shop in NB to get 6 horse out of it! Should be wild.
Thanks for the nitro break in tips. It's my first, so all the advice is very welcome. Can't wait for better weather!
I almost look forward to winter now...

Hehehe.. If there are big boats going around making wakes, yeah, it gets very airborne. I had it flying from one mini-swell to the top of the next at one time... Then it literally dove thru a bigger one and died so I had to go swim out and fetch it. Luckily it was on Lake Powell and the water was 75 degrees hehe.. Also lucky it didn't swallow any water. It probably just got too leaned from the lack of incoming air. At full tilt that thing is going at around 24,000 RPM's. It really generates some suction.

Yeah. If your coordination is not very good, don't even try planes. Adding that 3rd dimension complicates things to the Nth degree, so don't take it lightely. If you do have good coordination, depth perception, and reflexes though, with a little training it can be quite fun. Whether its casual putting thru the sky, pylon racing at 180MPH, or limbo-ing your old beater. Or if you have the big money and uber skills, flying your model F-14 Tomcat that weighs 45 lbs fueled and has a Jet Turbine (dang straight, the authentic thing, runs off JP-9 and everything) that puts out 35 lbs of thrust, has a flight time of approx 10 minutes, and hits speeds in excess of 300 MPH.. Is obviously equipped with disc brakes in the landing gear, a full-flap function setup, a ballast system to compensate fuel weight loss..... Hehehehe... It gets fun when you've poured $55,000 into your 4 foot span model.
